Taylor Johnson, Wade Bearden, Preston Ulmer and Dr. Garland Owensby have collaborated to write an eBook titled “Depleted: Dealing with Difficult Moments in Youth Ministry.” Johnson, youth pastor at House of Hope in Waxahachie, TX described his motivation for the eBook, “I’ve had a lot of great conversations with these writers about ministry and the difficult moments they’ve faced. It was always so refreshing for to hear others talk about having the same problems I’ve gone through. I wasn’t alone! I wanted a way share that feeling with others.” Owensby says, “Many people find themselves exhausted and emotionally depleted from ministry and this book speaks to those who are struggling in an authentic way.” Bearden, a contributor to Christianity Today and Preaching.com, discusses the ministry and life demands of being bi-vocational. Johnson speaks to the issue of cynicism in ministry and how easy it is to fall into that trap. Finally, Ulmer authentically shares about recovering from the hurt that is often encountered in ministry.
Leaders at any stage of ministry will appreciate the honest writing and hopeful direction each writer takes to dealing with the difficult moments of youth ministry.
